The Forest Ghost Path
Children, pay attention! Follow the ghosts along the brook and around the woods
Starting point: Oberotterbach, Parking space of the club house
Length: 4 km, duration: 1 hour
The Forest Ghost Path begins at the club house (daily open 11 a.m., closed on Tue) and is perfectly suitable for baby carriages. The path is marked with yellow and green bars and it is on the shadowy left side of the brook Otterbach. Pay attention, you have to discover the forest ghosts (bizarre carved figures out of wood, roots and stumps by the artist Volker Dahl) on both sides of the trail. The young and old are warmly invited to examine the ghosts closely. The Forest Ghost Path ends up with Gustav the snail.
If you do not want to go back the same path and if you do not have a baby carriage with you, you can make a tour. You have to follow the markings with the yellow-green bars. Cross the brook Otterbach, then steeper up to the crosspoint at the castle fountain. We recommend you to climb up to the castle ruin Guttenberg, 503 m, where you can have a panorama view to France. Then follow the markings with a yellow dot until you reach the hiking path German Wine Route with a grape as marking, before you arrive in Schweigen-Rechtenbach. Now turn north and walk through the vineyards back to Oberotterbach, 192 m. (This route has a length of 8 km including the trip to the castle ruin Guttenberg).
